Meteorologists have warned that this spring has the potential for severe wildfires following a dry winter. In addition, the pandemic has disrupted the usual prevention measures in many places. Yet, when we look with attention, humility and compassion, we see that these external events are a reflection of the dangerous wildfires in our minds, which have given rise to the reckless ways we have treated our world. It is time we get sober, examine our tendencies carefully and change what does harm. In this workshop, we have begun to explore the emotional reactivity that interferes with our inner peace and disrupts peace in the world. All of this is part of what I call shadow work, investigating the places out of our usual sight. We are doing this so that we can reclaim the energy we have placed there and turn it toward service for the good of all. Stick with this process, even if it feels uncomfortable. There is light throughout this tunnel, as well as at the end. I am walking attentively alongside you, holding a warm and encouraging lamp all the way.
