Canadian Musician And Activist Parvati Uses The Power Of Music To Bring Climate Mission To Millions

Award-winning, chart-topping Canadian musician Parvati is raising international awareness of the need for the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS) through an innovative marketing strategy with her new Celestial Pop single “I Am Light”, now reaching millions of households in Asia on Top 40 radio and TV. Parvati encourages fans to support MAPS, as climate change affects everyone. She says, “When we know that we are light, we keep our footprint on the planet light. We are one Earth family.”

Chris Porter, producer to David Bowie, says, “Parvati is a unique phenomenon in the music industry. She is someone who brings together music, spirituality, physical and mental health and a social conscience! Her commitment is total and she deserves to be a huge success.”

Dom Lau, Asia Pop 40 host, says “Parvati’s song “I Am Light” is a beautiful pop song with a positive message…. EON Media and Asia Pop 40 were proud to bring the world-exclusive premiere of this hit in the making.”

A Climate Reality Leader personally trained by former US Vice President Al Gore, Parvati is a longtime activist, dedicating her creative works in service to the greater good of all. She gave the northernmost musical performance ever when she journeyed to the North Pole in 2010 to raise awareness of the melting polar ice. She composed a song for those affected by 9/11, which she performed at Madison Square Garden for the city of New York. She developed a free guided meditation for peace and healing in the wake of the 2011 Japan earthquake. She also personally donates a percentage of her income to reforestation and supports the international charity Embracing The World.

In the fall of 2014, upon learning of planned seismic testing in Canada’s Arctic, Parvati founded the entirely volunteer-run not-for-profit organization Parvati.org with a mission to support a healthy planet, beginning with protecting the Arctic Ocean from all forms of exploitation including seismic testing. Recently, Parvati.org’s research formed part of a Canada-wide news story revealing that Shell holds oil exploration permits in Canada’s Arctic, decades after the permits should have expired. A subsequent lawsuit by WWF, to have the permits ruled invalid, is in progress. At the same time, the seismic testing planned for Canada’s Arctic has now been delayed by two summers. The decision to allow it is now being appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada.

In late 2015, Parvati.org created the international Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS) Treaty, translated into the six official UN languages, and distributed to the heads of government of 193 member nations of the UN for their formal endorsement. Parvati.org is in ongoing dialogue with world governments considering the Treaty. In all her communications, Parvati encourages fans to call on their national leaders to sign the MAPS treaty.

MAPS aims to protect the fragile Arctic ecosystem, which plays a crucial role in stopping climate change. MAPS designates all ocean north of the Arctic Circle as an international marine park, thereby ensuring protection from exploitation and militarization, and enhancing peace and cooperation for the benefit of all mankind.

“The health of the Arctic Ocean affects the climate of the entire planet,” says Parvati. “All lives on earth depend on healthy polar ice caps, which are rapidly melting. ‘I Am Light’ helps illuminate the reality of our inherent interconnection with the environment, which is key to making the global shift needed to stop climate change.”

Purchases of the song “I Am Light” on iTunes support the goal of getting “I Am Light” on the charts so that Parvati has more opportunities to highlight the need for MAPS.
