Parvati Foundation Presents Concluding Talk at Blue Ocean Summit

Today, Parvati Foundation founders and Climate Reality Leaders trained by Al Gore are presenting at the 2016 Blue Ocean Summit regarding the global imperative for the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS). Rishi Deva, President of Kupid’s Play Records, and chart-topping musician, yogi, author and activist Parvati, will give the Summit’s concluding talk entitled “Engaging the World in the MAPS Movement”.

The 2016 Blue Ocean Summit features 14 Ocean Leaders who have combined their passion for the ocean with their unique talents and skill sets to create Hope Spots of conscious change in their fields of interest. The Ocean Leaders have all taken to heart Dr. Sylvia Earle’s TED Prize-winning Call-to-Action, that underpins the 2016 Summit: “Use all means at your disposal – films! expeditions! the web! new submarines! more!… to save and restore the ocean, the blue heart of the planet.” Find out more about the Summit and tune in at http://bobsummit.com/2016/

Parvati is a longtime activist, dedicating her creative works in service to the greater good of all. She gave the northernmost musical performance ever when she journeyed to the North Pole in 2010 to raise awareness of the melting polar ice. In the fall of 2014, upon learning of planned seismic testing in Canada’s Arctic, Parvati founded the entirely volunteer-run not-for-profit organization Parvati Foundation with a mission to support a healthy planet, beginning with protecting the Arctic Ocean.

The Arctic Ocean plays a critical role in regulating healthy global climate systems. A melted Arctic Ocean means immediate and profound global consequences including sea-level rise, extreme weather events, threatened global food production and water supply, and increasing numbers of displaced persons.

Parvati Foundation has created the international Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS) Treaty, translated into the six official UN languages, and distributed to the heads of government of all member nations of the UN for their endorsement. With 99 signatures for heads of government, the MAPS Treaty becomes law.

MAPS establishes the Arctic Ocean north of the Arctic Circle as a permanent international marine protected area free from commercial fishing, natural resource exploitation, seismic testing, military activity and through shipping traffic. In all her communications, Parvati encourages fans to call on their national leaders to sign the MAPS treaty.

“The Antarctic region has been protected for decades,” says Rishi. “But the Arctic Ocean remains vulnerable to exploitative commercial and political interests, further threatening the ice that remains and the health of the entire planet. The entire region must be protected from harmful human activities.”

“We are delighted to be participating in this year’s Blue Ocean Summit,” says Parvati. “All lives on earth depend on healthy polar ice caps. MAPS is an effective and immediate response to protect the Arctic Ocean from all exploitation that compromises the sea ice, the Earth’s own cooling system. We hope through the Blue Ocean Summit to catalyze global support for MAPS – the first step towards a preferred future in which everyone on the planet can live harmoniously with each other and with nature.”
